Job Description

Drive Advanced Embedded Mobility: Lead AUTOSAR & MBD Software Engineering in Japan!

*Must be in Japan with a working visa*

■ Job Title

Embedded Software Specialist / Lead Engineer (Automotive Systems)

■ Company Overview

A major global engineering services and technology solutions provider delivering high-performance automotive embedded systems and software architecture. Partnering with leading automakers and Tier-1 suppliers across Japan and international markets, the organization develops software-defined vehicle architectures, advanced electronic control units, and next-generation mobility platforms.

■ Your Role and Responsibilities

Lead embedded software architecture design, application software development, and system integration for automotive electronic control units. You will drive Model-Based Design (MBD) implementations using MATLAB/Simulink and embedded C programming across both AUTOSAR and Non-AUTOSAR environments. Responsibilities include managing full software development lifecycles compliant with Automotive SPICE (ASPICE), conducting real-hardware software integration and debugging, managing technical risks and task schedules using ALM tools (JIRA, DOORS, Enterprise Architect), and serving as the key technical interface with OEM customers.

■ Experience and Qualifications

  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in automotive embedded software design, development, and architecture definition.
  • Expertise in embedded C programming and Model-Based Design (MATLAB/Simulink).
  • Strong background in both AUTOSAR and Non-AUTOSAR software architecture design.
  • Hands-on SDLC execution experience compliant with Automotive SPICE (ASPICE) standards.
  • Proficiency with automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN) and diagnostic standards (UDS, OBD).
  • Practical experience in real-hardware software-hardware integration, issue debugging, and root-cause analysis.
  • JLPT N2 or higher with strong spoken and written Japanese communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Computer, or Mechatronics Engineering.

■ Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency with engineering and lifecycle management tools such as JIRA, MS Project (MPP), IBM DOORS, and Enterprise Architect.
  • Strong track record in customer negotiation, cross-functional team coordination, and technical risk management.

■ Good Reasons to Join

  • High-Level Technical Leadership: Step into a senior specialist role defining software architectures for complex in-vehicle electronic systems.
  • Next-Generation Technologies: Work directly with advanced AUTOSAR architectures, Model-Based Design tools, and ASPICE frameworks.
  • Global Ecosystem: Collaborate with multicultural engineering teams and leading Japanese automotive manufacturers.
  • Career Growth: Expand your technical expertise and project management impact within an expanding automotive business unit.
