Back-end engineer - Kotlin

One of the top Japanese IT company with B2C products.

 

■ Your Role and Responsibilities

Develop and maintain services written in both Kotlin and Perl

Promote and drive new development in Kotlin, while gradually migrating legacy components from Perl when updating existing features

Lead backend development for user-facing service functionality

Architect systems that improve performance, scalability, and modularity

Design and build highly available, reliable, and fault-tolerant backend services

Mentor team members and advocate for software development and operational excellence

Collaborate across teams and engage actively in code and design reviews to uphold high development standards

■ Experience and Qualifications

5+ years of experience in backend/server-side application development

Proven ability to manage technical issues and respond to production incidents

Proficiency with scalable data storage solutions, particularly MySQL

Solid understanding of core computer science principles

Business-level proficiency in either Japanese or English (spoken)

Business-level proficiency in English (written)

■ Preferred Experience/Skills

Experience with tuning and monitoring applications running on the JVM

Proficiency in Kotlin for backend development

Experience leading or mentoring technical teams

Experience building applications deployed on Kubernetes
