Job Description

Drive Advanced Lighting Innovation: Lead Global Embedded Software Teams for Automotive Headlamps!

*MUST BE IN JAPAN, WITH WORKING VISA*

■ Job Title

Software Technical Leader (Headlamp & ECU Systems)

■ Company Overview

A premier global Tier-1 automotive group, that designs and manufactures next-generation exterior lighting and optical headlamp systems. The company integrates advanced lighting innovations directly with vehicle ADAS architectures, leveraging an international network of R&D hubs to deliver software-defined lighting solutions to major global and domestic automakers.

■ Your Role and Responsibilities

Act as the primary "Technical Command Center" linking domestic Japanese OEMs with overseas R&D engineering centers (e.g., China, Egypt). Managing a local team of 4 to 6 engineers, you will lead customer technical discussions, define software and system requirements, perform gap analyses, and manage change requests. Additionally, you will participate directly in hands-on vehicle evaluations (including nighttime test drives on test tracks) to confirm bug reproduction, conduct root-cause analysis, and review embedded C software architectures.

■ Experience and Qualifications

  • 5+ years of automotive engineering experience, specifically in embedded software development (C language), software architecture, and system design.
  • Hands-on experience in automotive ECU development, CAN bus communications, and code-level modification/debugging across the full development lifecycle.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license for test-course and real-vehicle evaluations.
  • Business-level Japanese fluency to lead negotiations and technical alignment with Japanese OEMs (verbal fluency prioritized over reading/writing).
  • Conversational to business-level English to collaborate daily with offshore engineering centers.

■ Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct background in ADAS, automotive lighting systems, or exterior lighting ECUs.
  • Familiarity with Automotive SPICE (ASPICE) development processes and standards.
  • Proven experience managing small technical teams or leading cross-border technical alignment projects.

■ Good Reasons to Join

  • High-Impact Leadership: Step into a Manager-level technical role overseeing a direct team of 4–6 engineers while driving high-profile headlamp projects.
  • Global Engineering Network: Access state-of-the-art European and American technologies while collaborating daily with global development centers.
  • Hands-On Engineering: Balance strategic technical management with real-world validation, test-track night drives, and hands-on system troubleshooting.
  • Strong Employee Support: Enjoy flexible working arrangements (hybrid work), corporate housing programs, and complete social insurance coverage.

■ Work Location

Isehara, Kanagawa (Includes occasional domestic travel to evaluation sites and test courses)
