Function Owner – Autonomous Driving System
■ Company Overview
Our client is a leading global Tier-1 automotive technology company driving innovation in software-defined vehicles. The team in Japan focuses on developing advanced driver assistance and autonomous driving systems for major global OEMs.
■ Your Role and Responsibilities
As a Function Owner, you will oversee and lead the design of vehicle-level functions for next-generation autonomous driving systems. You will integrate multiple sensors (camera, radar, ultrasonic) and work closely with software and validation teams throughout the entire V-model process to ensure system quality and functional performance.
- Lead functional design and development for autonomous driving systems
- Manage system design integrating camera, radar, and ultrasonic sensors
- Define and update system and stakeholder requirements (traceability management)
- Collaborate with system architects, software engineers, and test/validation teams
- Act as technical lead during customer meetings and test drives
- Define KPIs, test strategies, and performance measurement approaches
- Ensure compliance with ASPICE, ISO 26262, and company standards
- Lead or support technical reviews with suppliers and cross-functional teams
■ Experience and Qualifications
- System engineering experience (ASPICE)
- Basic knowledge of embedded software and SoC architecture
- Experience writing system requirements
- Knowledge of ISO 26262 (Functional Safety)
- English: Business level or above
- Japanese: Conversational level or higher (Business level for OEM-facing role)
■ Additional Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of automotive communication, diagnostics, and microcontrollers
- Basic project management (schedule, scope, resource, communication)
- Software engineering knowledge (AUTOSAR)
- Experience with MBD tools (Simulink / Stateflow)
- Programming skills: C, Python
- Understanding of computer vision and image processing
